1. Tell us your story — how did KSF Consolidated get started?


Our CEO, Keonna Franklin, launched KSF Consolidated in 2022 with a clear vision: build an accounting-firm model that supports small businesses — especially underserved ones — without the overhead and complexity often associated with traditional firms. 

From day one we focused on bookkeeping, payroll and tax preparation, with services tailored to local entrepreneurs as well as national clients. 

2. What drew you to GereBlock’s space?


We were looking for a space that wasn’t just about “office rental” but about being part of a community. GereBlock’s ethos of inclusive growth, historic preservation (and location on Syracuse’s Far West Side) resonated with us. Being in a building that’s more than just four walls — one that encourages connection, small-business collaboration and diversity — felt like the right fit.

3. How does your presence here align with your values?


As an MWBE-certified business, we believe in leveling the playing field. At GereBlock, we are surrounded by fellow entrepreneurs, creatives, and community-minded businesses. That synergy supports what we believe in: service through empowerment.


For example:

  • Our bookkeeping subscription (one-on-one weekly Zoom support for DIY bookkeepers) helps small business owners gain financial clarity and confidence. 

  • Being physically located in a building whose mission aligns with community-driven growth reinforces our commitment to more than pure profit.

  • The visibility and accessibility of our office help us be a resource to local businesses who might otherwise feel “shy” about professional financial support.


4. What’s your favorite part of working from GereBlock?


It’s the energy. Walking through the halls, meeting other tenants — makers, artists, coworking folks — you sense that we are all advancing something bigger together. That intangible is huge for us.

Also: the architecture, the history, the idea of transforming something old into new vibrancy. That feels aligned with how we approach finance for small businesses — preserve what’s strong, improve what’s needed, build what’s new.

5. Looking ahead — what’s in store for KSF Consolidated?


We’re doubling down on our subscription-based bookkeeping support offering, expanding our reach nationally while maintaining a strong local base here in Syracuse. We’d like to launch educational workshops for minority-owned and women-owned businesses on payroll-and-tax literacy — possibly partnering with other tenants here.

And of course, we’re excited to grow within GereBlock — perhaps expanding our team, hosting client-events in the shared spaces, and being right in the heart of this ecosystem.

Absolutely — here are a few quick takeaways:



  • Don’t let financial management strike fear; treat your books like a map of where you’ve been and where you’re going.

  • Choose your workspace not just for square footage, but for the community it offers. Being amongst people who believe in growth and purpose changes everything.

  • Certification (like MWBE) isn’t just a badge — it can unlock networks, credibility and opportunity.

  • Invest in support early. Even if you’re doing things yourself, having a weekly check-in with a pro can avert big mistakes.
